Why Madera panels get dirty
Madera is surrounded by some of the busiest farmland in the state. Almonds are Madera County's top crop, followed by milk, pistachios and grapes, according to the county's crop report. Nut harvest shakes and sweeps orchards in late summer and fall, and that fine dust drifts well past the orchard rows onto rooftops in town.
Dairies, dirt farm roads and truck traffic on Highway 99 add more. With dry summers and little rain, the layer builds up week after week.
Homes, ranches and ground mounts
Madera has older in-town homes on shingle roofs, newer subdivisions with tile, and plenty of rural properties with ground-mount or barn-roof arrays. Ground mounts sit close to the dirt and often next to orchards or pasture, so they usually need cleaning more often than rooftop panels. We clean all of them and will tell you if an array is hard to reach before we quote.
When to book in Madera
The heaviest dust comes during harvest, so many owners wait until it's done and clean in the fall, then again in late spring before summer heat. If your panels face an orchard or a farm road, ask us about timing the visit just after the busiest weeks next door.
